AwesomeBooks Announce Support for Fight for Libraries Campaign

August 12, 2012 (Powerhomebiz.com) AwesomeBooks, a leading online retailer of new and used books, are currently supporting the ‘Fight for Libraries’ campaign started by the Bookseller publication.

The Bookseller seeks to support libraries as a key access point to the public for books, and AwesomeBooks has announced their support for this organisation’s role in keeping books readily available to communities and young children.

In 2010, the UK government started a programme of budget cuts which included large amounts of funding cuts to public libraries.

However, under the 1964 Public Libraries and Museums Act, the government has a statutory duty to provide an efficient and comprehensive library service, and AwesomeBooks defiantly supports the upholding of this Act as part of the Fight for Libraries campaign.

schoolliteracy A spokesperson for AwesomeBooks commented: “Research shows that some of the largest user groups of libraries are children who use these facilities to discover new authors and genres that they may not have previously have considered. Having access to libraries therefore helps the younger generation to develop a love of reading; which provides a massive benefit to society in terms of literacy skill development.

“We will do whatever we can to support the Bookseller to ensure that children can still benefit from this considerably useful facility – both now and in the future.”
