On that day, this group of visionaries will unveil the Capism Foundation, whose stated goal is to establish Capism — a model that lets you profit from your data and time while maintaining privacy. Facebook and Google have proved that your personal information is worth a lot of money. Reflect on that for a moment – that data is owned by millions of people worldwide, but only a handful of companies are profiting from it. These companies have created immense wealth for themselves, but none of it is shared with the owners of the data. The other topic is information privacy. The so-called privacy policies of these companies have been shown to be a joke, time and again. These policies are changed arbitrarily whenever it suits the bottom line. People have had enough, but they feel trapped. They don’t know whether there’s a better, fairer alternative.
These resounding concerns over a few opportunists’ control on data privacy and the universal need for a fairer alternative inspired creation of Capism Foundation. We want to upend this unfair paradigm through the development of first-ever data ecosystem owned by the data-owners themselves. This ecosystem consists of software marketplace, infrastructure, and governance policies that gives data-owners complete control over their data and privacy
The Capism Foundation team is a worldwide group of technologists, business and thought leaders with extensive experience in high tech, legal, health care, education, advertising and venture capital. Girish Mundada and Cliff Hersh, the early thinkers behind this idea, have solid backgrounds in senior management roles at large organizations.
Girish has 25+ years of thought leadership in database technologies. Most recently, he was a C level consultant to Teradata corporation, the world’s leading data analytics company. Recently, as a vice president at SAP, the worlds largest Enterprise software provider, he managed the database technology business unit. Cliff Hersh has founded multiple start-ups in his 40 years of high tech experience. His most recent experience includes building high speed database server technologies.
Our intent in designing Capism was for society to prosper. We intend each member in the society to prosper, not just a few. By spreading wealth, we intend to create more wealth as proven by economic theories of money multiplier effect. Additionally, Capism also intends to be a conduit for positive social contributions.
