Introducing the New Line of T Shirts by 8 Ball

August 27, 2012 (Powerhomebiz.com) It is wonderful to see how things change in the matter of a few decades. Perhaps the best example is the T-shirt, which originated as a torso undergarment during the 19th century. Today it is one of the most famous and convenient forms of clothing among men and women of all ages. With time, it has become the most popular type of garment in the whole world, while opening doors to a new world of business and advertising.

History

The T-shirt is believed to be a result of the separation of the “union suit” underwear into top and bottom garments. Earlier the T-shirt was popular in military culture, as an undergarment so that veterans could remove their uniforms during rough weather or hot climate. Soon after the World Wars the T-shirt literally invaded the market as a cheap, convenient and fashionable alternative for professional shirts and other top garments. Subsequently there ensued a craze for all sorts of T-shirt designs, which is raging the market even today.

T-shirt in a Nutshell

Obviously the T-shirt gets its name from the shape. It is basically a garment made of cotton fibres which are knitted together in a jersey stitch. However, synthetic fibres are extensively used in T-shirt manufacture today because they tend to be cheaper and can be painted or decorated much easily. A typical T-shirt consists of a round neck line and short sleeves, and often has no collar. But such ‘general’ features no longer hold, because today there are countless variations of T-shirt design, including tank tops, crew necks, muscle shirts and A-shirts alias “wife beaters”.

Decoration and Popular Culture

8ball Earlier T shirts were plain-coloured, the colour being a feature of the fabric used. However, the development of screen printing has opened up unimaginable possibilities. Today a T-shirt displays the feeling and taste of the wearer better than anything else. Many of them contain all sorts of slogans, logos and photographs of all sorts of celebrities, musicians, politicians and other notable figures. In the meantime, several companies have turned towards T shirts as an effective means of advertising their products and services.

From the 80s, T shirts with designer logos have become increasingly popular among youngsters as well as adults. The T-shirt has also kept up its pace with the evolution of popular culture. Movie and TV T shirts conquer the market from time to time, and often remain popular even after the relevant excitement had died away. Today there are even music T shirts designed to decorate musical stages and dancing parades.
