New Australian Visa Application Centers in New Zealand

December 5, 2011 (Powerhomebiz.com) – The Australian immigration department is set to open two new Australian Visa Application Centers (AVAC) in New Zealand, making it easier for people applying for visas to Australia and citizenship to Australia to submit their Australian visa applications and Australian visa requirements.


The two new Australian Visa Application Centers (AVAC) in New Zealand will specifically open in Auckland and Christchurch.

The Auckland AVAC is set to open on November 28 while the second AVAC is set to open in Christchurch early next year. All Australia migration visa and citizenship lodgments in New Zealand, regardless of nationality, will be lodged there.

Previously, people applying for immigration to Australia would have to apply for their visas from the Australian Consulate-General in Auckland, which is purported to be a lengthy process.

australia-visa According to Australian Consulate-General Principal migration Officer, Jenny Bell, as the 2 centers will have longer opening hours and will be focusing on those client services and administrative side of the Australian immigration process, this would make applying for immigration to Australia and visa lodgment a much easier and much more straightforward process.

These plans for the opening of the 2 centers came about as figures show that New Zealand’s annual Australian visa application figures have increased, with a current standing of approximately 30,000 according to Ms. Bell.

Likewise, according to figures recently released by Statistics New Zealand, the number of Kiwis crossing Tasman to Australia has recorded an increase of 48% in the year ending July 31st, which is translated to an annual high of 44,349 leaving the country in the last year. This figure for July 2011 was the highest for any July month since 1978.

Moreover, figures also revealed that a total of 3,264 or 100 Kiwis each day in October have migrated to Australia.
