New Trend In Outsourcing – Client Visits Virtual Employee Pvt Ltd Specifically To Train Their Virtual Employee

December 7, 2011 (Powerhomebiz.com) Recently, an Australian client, whose company models homes for energy-efficiency, came all the way down to the Virtual Employee Pvt Ltd office on a special mission. It was purely a business trip – to personally train his chosen virtual employee (a qualified engineer) on the work that was going to be outsourced. He spent an entire week in VE office, spending time bonding with his Indian remote employee, mingling with the HR staff and teaching and training his virtual employee about floor plans and other engineering essentials.

These are the excerpts from his interview.

1.Why did you choose VirtualEmployee.com?
Well, earlier I had used Freelancer.com very briefly and that was the first time I had become aware of outsourcing. A Google search directed me to VirtualEmployee.com. What I liked were several things – my candidate would be my employee; he would be supervised; his working conditions were good; and the most important part, Indian time zones were far more favourable to Australia than the American ones.

outsourcing 2.What impressed you about your candidate?
He is very qualified mechanical engineer – a little overqualified, I guess – but I was looking for someone who could understand blue prints and floor plans, etc. We wanted someone with good educational qualifications and we could afford someone with these qualifications in India rather than hire someone under-qualified but who would have to be trained there in Australia.

3.What made you come all the way down here and train him?
We could have trained him over Skype but it would have been difficult. Although English is not a problem in India at all – apart from, well, the accent – there are certain technical terms that could be better explained in person. To commit properly to this outsourced project, I thought I had to come here and give a sort of a comprehensive training.

4.Could it not have been done over Skype or through video conferencing?
Maybe, but it would have been difficult showing drawings and explaining technical terms. It has been, on the whole, a rather comprehensive and intensive training.

5.Do you think it is worth coming all the way?
Oh yes, very definitely, it has been worth coming all the way here, meeting my virtual employee in person and being able to be available to train and answer all his queries as well. I thought it would last 2-3 days but it has taken slightly longer but thats alright because we are looking at this as a long-term investment.

6.How was your experience? Did you like what you saw?
It has been very good. I have liked what I have seen and we were looked after very well. I am looking at this as a long-term business arrangement. Ultimately, I want to make my remote employee sufficiently independent – within reason, of course – so that he does no’t need baby-sitting, so to speak.

It is in deed an index of VirtualEmployee.com success when a foreign client takes the trouble to come all the way down here, spend time and train their virtual employees. Obviously, it is well worth the effort.
