Innovation activities are those ones that will add value to your products and services. In order to grow a business there are three things you can do to make that happen.

1. Increase the number of customers

2. Increase the value of each transaction and

3. Increase the number of times existing customers buy from you

If you do the mathematics required it can be shown that in order to double your business, you only need to increase these three factors by twenty to thirty per cent. Most people think you would need to double your customers numbers, but actually you only need to increase them by about a third. The way in which you can increase these three factors is by using local business internet marketing and innovation type methods.

Think about what irresistible offer you can use to entice new customers into your local business. This must be focussed on your customer and offer real value to them. It may be a free offer or one that offers a significant reduction in price. The idea here is to use it to attract new customers.

Once a customer has consumed your irresistible offer, you can offer further products and services of increasing value to them. These products and services are called your value ladder. It is made up of a list of products and services of increasing value which can be offered to your customers. In this way you are able to keep offering further value and service to a customer, rather than just selling one product to them once. If your local business offers only one product , then you will be constantly sourcing new customers. With a value ladder of products and services in place, you are able to move existing customers onto higher value items.

You can then set up a lead generation website with your irresistible offer as an ethical bribe in exchange for website visitor’s details. Set up an autoresponder service to create a follow up system and promote and educate them on your products and services. Using social media sites you can engage with your prospective customers by sharing your story and personality to develop a relationship with your target market. Set up some traffic generation strategies to drive more targeted visitors to your local business website.

So, as you can see from this brief description, you can use these local business internet marketing methods to enable your business to grow even though there is a recession. Create an irresistible offer, set up your value ladder, install a lead generation website with an autoresponder service to follow up on prospects and then continue to drive more traffic to your website. The key is to start implementing these techniques now.
