Online Video Marketing for Small Business Success

May 26, 2012 (Powerhomebiz.com) Video marketing online is big business these days, and as you’d expect, there’s always someone out there ready and willing to take your money in return for some flashy and slick video production.

Now, the thing with online video marketing is you really don’t have to spend a lot of money on equipment and you don’t have to go to a studio. Anyone who tells you otherwise is pulling a fast one.

I film all my own videos on a Kodak Zi10 (you can’t get the Zi8 any more, I believe) a fairly cheap microphone, a simple tripod and a memory card that goes in the camera – and the whole thing cost me under £200.

And the scenery is free – but unfortunately you’d have to move to Ireland to get it.

But that’s not the point. You can shoot your internet marketing videos anywhere.

Now, a guy I met a long time ago did a lot of video testing (and he tested this to death) and he found the more casual, unscripted, and unprofessional his videos were – like being filmed in the middle of his field with just a T-shirt on and a funny hat – he got a better response than if he was sitting at his desk in his library.

And we can theorise all we like about why this might be, but there’s a good chance it was because if you look too professional you’re obviously trying to make a sale. I mean, who else but a salesman wears a suit, and talks to you about the benefits of a product or service?

Whereas, if you’re more friendly and unprofessional, so to speak, and casual, you’re actually putting yourself on the side of the person you’re talking to.

Rather than being on the other side of the table, you’re on the same side of the table. So that’s probably why it works better.

But, of course, you can test it in your own Market. All you need to do is follow these three simple tips:

1. Make a list of the top ten most frequently asked questions about your products or services.

2. Make a list of the top ten most INFREQUENTLY asked questions about your products or services that OUGHT to be asked.

3. Make a simple 3 minute video answering each one, upload it all to YouTube, and you’re done (you can also use the audio for Podcasts and get it transcribed and use the content for articles, blog posts, and article marketing).

The point is don’t go rushing out spending money on studio time and expensive professional equipment.

A simple camera, like the Zi10 (it’s sometimes called the PlayTouch), cheap microphone, tripod, memory card – all under £200.

Nice scenery and a sunny day and you’ve got yourself a decent online marketing video you can use to great effect.
