September 11, 2011 (Powerhomebiz.com) Kathy Wakile, of ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ fame, is attracting a big audience with her cooking abilities, which have become a big draw for the hit TV show.
In an interview with TheCelebritycafe.com, Wakile describes her passion for cooking and how her mom influenced her.
“My mom was always cooking. She made everything from scratch, and dinners were on the table with all the food groups represented every single night”, said Wakile. “I never even knew that I had these skills until I started baking. That was the first thing she would allow me to do growing up”
Wakile also gives advice on the best ways to entertain guests and throwing dinner parties.
“I think that the most important thing is to try and keep it simple. If you want to make it more extensive, that’s fine, but know in your heart that if you’re having a good time, you’re happy to be doing this, your guests feel it. The same way, if you’re stressed out, your guests feel that, too. And if you’re really frazzled, and you’re not really wanting to do it, if it’s like an obligation, then your guests feel that.”
Wakile also mentions, “….the most important thing is embrace it. You’re opening up your home. You know what? Don’t wait for the perfect time. Just do it, just invite people over, put a smile on your face, and don’t be afraid to – if someone says can I help you with something, you know take their help.”
Wakile has thought about plans for both a catering business and a cookbook, but for the moment, she is content with becoming an expert cook.
“…I’m really working on getting a line out of desserts that people respond to. It may be a retail store. I’m still toying around with that whole dessert thing, and I just want to see what’s going to work best for me, and my family first and foremost.” Wakile follows up with saying, “I want to make sure that whatever I put in print is something that I stand behind, and that I worked it, and I perfected it, and people really respond to it. I don’t want to just take someone else’s recipes and sign my name to them. So I’m working on testing out all of my recipes, seeing how they’ll hold up. And I would love to put a cookbook out one day, but first I want to make sure that it’s something I’m really behind.”
