May 16, 2012 (Powerhomebiz.com) Aspiring entrepreneurs in the armed forces now have a go to site for business fund-raising. RepayVets.com is a crowd funding site geared towards military veterans and their supporters.
“In an effort to bridge the gap between service to country and business success, RepayVets.com provides a platform to fund projects for veterans who are aspiring entrepreneurs,” says Marlon Terrell, RepayVets.com Founder and Naval Academy (’02) graduate.
RepayVets.com has two levels of involvement, the military veteran (entrepreneur) and their supporter. Simply put, the military veteran posts their project onto the site with a pledge goal to meet within 30 days. The vet then rallies supporters through social media, email and other marketing channels to meet the pledge goal. Once the pledge goal is met, the veteran receives the pledge goal amount and the supporters receive the product or service when the vet’s venture takes off.
“According to the SBA, the number two reason why all businesses fail within the first five years is because the lack of funding. That’s daunting and intimidating for first time business owners, let alone a veteran starting off in a land that’s unfamiliar. Our vision with RepayVets.com is to alleviate the fear of starting a business because one has little to no funding, and in turn, increase business success for veterans.”
In addition to providing crowd funding for veterans, the RepayVets.com team has also expanded their network to any venture, to include non-profit organizations, whose primary focus is to support military veterans. “We are very excited to open our site to civilians, especially non-profits, and provide them with a new and unique fund raising vertical and align their message with new supporters,” says Terrell. With veterans returning home from war looking to capitalize on their entrepreneurial ambitions, RepayVets.com is honored to help achieve their dreams through their website.
